The SJCLF led Social Enterprise Hub took another step toward becoming a realty on Tuesday night when the Planning Advisory Committee approved variances required (City Council will have final say on the approval next month).

The Social Enterprise space being constructed by the Saint John Community Loan Fund and partners has started to take shape on Prince Edward Street with some soil being moved to prepare for the building.
The project will aim to provide spaces for social enterprises and non-profit groups that want to reduce poverty through creative and entrepreneurial thinking.
The Premier and other Provincial officials were in Saint John to announce $300,000 in funding for the proposed Prince Edward Street Social Enterprise Hub.
The project is to be developed adjacent and with leadership from the Saint John Community Loan Fund on Prince Edward Street.
The space is designed to allow non profits that support small scale entrepreneurs and skill training initiatives. The space will also be designed to provide incubator space for entrepreneurs.

The Saint John Community Loan Fund, an organization that works to help community members build assets and financial skills, has received federal funding for a skills program for women entrepreneurs.
The Federal funding announcement is for $219,126 over the next 3 years.
