Jack Irving

I saw an OSCO truck dutifully pouring concrete at the Abbey St. Andrew job site today - work continuing even as the construction company has suffered a loss of a leader and an icon.

Jack Irving, the recently deceased chairman of OSCO and recent donor of the Saint John 225th anniversary clock will surely be remembered for his impact on the local economy.

I hope the Irving family is able to find peace in this time of loss.

A Place to Play A Song

I’m pretty far from hip, but I do my best to support local music and check out local shows a couple of times a month. That said, I’m impressed with Clinton Charleton’s A Place to Play A Song which can be downloaded through iTunes and is the backing music to the Saint John 225th Anniversary advertisement. I also dig that the ad features local artist Alison Gayton.

Saint John 225 Celebration Chalk Art

This chalk art is located in front of Harbour Station, where Saint John 225 festivities will be kicked off tomorrow. It’s worth a walk-by before its rained away. 

Sneak Peak of the clock

The wind allowed a sneak peak of the clock going in front of CenterBeam Place while the Rainbow Peace March went up King Street this evening.

The clock is now in place, though shrouded in a tarp.

Saint John 225 banner

I think its pretty cool that one of the new Saint John 225th birthday banners is in front of Harbourfront condo development; I think the project celebrates Saint John’s waterfront while respecting local built heritage and modern design.

The foot of King Street’s southern sidewalk is the site of some pretty heavy duty work as Commercial Properties erects a clock.
