Deer
A letter to the editor in the TJ entitled Urban deer problem must be addressed caught my attention today. here’s the best part in my opinion:
“Future homeowners may be reluctant to move to our Valley while deer are in control. The argument that deer were here first and we are the intruders is wrong. The whitetail is relatively new to these northern ranges. When our first settlers came ashore, whitetails were not yet here.
The majestic deer belongs in the wild, not in our yards and on our streets. To support anything other than their natural state of existence is wrong and dangerous.”
As someone who doesn’t plan on making a home in the suburbs I might suggest that people putting “our yards” in the wild is a bigger problem than the wild animals coming into people’s yards.
