Transit
The City of Saint John's Transit Commission is currently building a new garage for its operations. The size and character of the garage are being debated in the local media. Leaving the debate about the facility aside, the transit commission's stated goal of increasing ridership seems like a good one.
The Commission seems to have growth in mind; when I did a Google search for "transit growth", Saint John was on the page of first 10 hits. Here's where the commission talks about growth: http://www.saintjohntransit.com/index.php?id=5
I've had some exposure to other Canadian city's where I've been impressed with the ease of using transit. Hopefully the Transit Commission can create a system where people who own cars are more willing to use buses (myself included).
I currently live downtown and own a car. My parking is paid for as an employment perk, but I feel compelled to take a look at the transit routes. I hope to start using transit and being part of the greening of our city.
