Postering and the like

I heard the mayor commenting on the CBC that putting up stickers on sign posts is a "form of littering." This reminds me of the complaints that are sometimes made about posters cluttering uptown sign posts.

While I agree that posters and stickers do disrupt pristine heritage blocks (almost as much as motorized vehicular traffic, power lines and electric street lighting), I'm not sure this disruption is a bad thing.

To me, posters and stickers can show that there are things going on in the city. Posters announce shows and events that prove there are things for young citizens to do. They can also act as protest- such as posters critizing local networking group Fusion and local magazine here. This shows off a community with a diversity of opinions.

What posters critizing Fusion are you referring to?

There were signs along Union at one point (near the corner with Germain I think). There was one about Fusion and one about here. They were 8 1/2 x 11 B&W.

They didn't say much.
