Nougatine et Chocolat

While doing some pre-Valentine's Day shopping I had occasion to stop in at Nougatine et Chocolat on Prince William Street in uptown Saint John. According to the Tourism Saint John website (http://www.tourismsaintjohn.com/files/upload/SJExplorerWinter2007.pdf) the shop offers "a selection of premium French chocolates,... pastries and specialty coffee and tea," and opened December 2006.

I was looking forward to visiting the new business and see what a french pastry chef could do with a neat breaks and beams uptown location. I wish I had my camera when I stopped in.

The hardwood floor was glowing, the walls were decorated tastefully, there were all sorts of elaborate desserts in the display cases and the mid morning clientele included an older couple enjoying a leisurely coffee break and a young professional working on a sleek laptop. My visit was like walking into an advertisement for the business - a good sign that they are doing a fine job on creating an atmosphere that goes well with their business.
