Local artists and craftspeople to raise funds at Lily Lake
From Facebook:
The "Think Global, Buy Local" craft show is in support of local businesses as well as a way to raise awareness about child labour in many third world countries across the globe. Our goal is to encourage people to support local businesses as opposed to purchasing goods from large companies that manufacture their products in countries where child labour laws are either minimal or non-existent. We believe that children should have an opportunity to go to school and get an education, and that a dangerous factory is no place for a child. Therefore, we will donate 100% of our proceeds toward building a primary school in Sri Lanka, as education is the only way for a child to pull themself out of poverty.
We will ask that you donate $3 at the door, however, children under the age of 10 can go in for free. The rink and Lily's Cafe will also be open during the craft show.
The craft show will feature jewelry, clothes, artwork, soaps, and much more, all made by local vendors and artisans. Please come out and support our cause!
