Tannery Court: Concerns put on YouTube

The way we interact with our democracy is changing. Letters to City Council and letters to the editor are no longer the only ways for us to be heard between elections. The numerous Facebook groups that tackle local issues - from the fight to stop the closure of UNB Saint John to support of the Irving Oil Headquarters proposal - are now given a forum online. Opponents of the Tannery Court development proposed for 185 Carmarthen Street have a Facebook group and multi-media clips backing up their fight. I posted a link to audio clips yesterday and found a video about the development today.

Were I a developer I would join the new media movement and use similar tools to make sure both sides of the storey were heard. But for now, the above video is the only one I've seen about the development. Watch neighbour Howard LaBillois talk about his community and note he's more than the hollering protester depicted in the Telegraph Journal this morning.
