The City Market: does it close to early?
Local blogger Jeff Roach posted on his site recently that he thinks the City Market closes too early, leaving a gap in the uptown service-scape. Yesterday evening I started to agree. I had to objectives for after my day at the office ended: to get some fresh fish and to go for a swim at the Aquatic Centre. To get to the market on time I had to do this right after work and then store my fish in my gym locker while I swam. Less than ideal.
My guess is that many vendors would do well to be open in the evening as the uptown core has a population of people who would rather walk to a shop than drive to a store. Additionally, I find it very odd that neither Java Moose in the uptown is open to serve late night coffee drinkers. Surely there are enough uptown hipsters to make that work.
