Salvation Army garden
The Salvation Army veggie garden by their facility in the south end is getting some press: http://news.country94.ca/2010/08/new-garden-feeds-salvation-army.html
The idea of using an “empty” lot for a productive food garden sounds good to me. I listened to an interview on the CBC the other evening about the value of urban gardening; I couldn’t find a link to the article, but here’s a link to the CBC’s coverage on the topic: http://www.cbc.ca/search/cbc?ie=utf8&site=CBC&output=xml_no_dtd&getfields=description&oe=utf8&safe=high&q=+urban+gardening
