Preserving parts of Peel Plaza

jelly bean houses

The CBC has an article titled Saint John shoring up historic jellybean houses. The article discusses efforts related to the buildings that the city purchased in its first attempt at the Peel Plaza land assembly and keeping them structural sound.

Efforts include work to stop roof leaks in the “Jelly Bean” houses and heating the former Synagogue.

This is no guarantee of the long term futures of the buildings as the city plans on selling these possibly to private developers interested in integrating these into the Peel Plaza development.
