In defense of the Saint John City Market

sj city market

I visited Moncton this weekend and had a great time checking out the Moncton Market.  I talked up the variety of booths to friends and they commiserated Saint John’s lack of a similar market.

In defense of the Saint John City Market, I suggest that our permanent market with extra vendors on the weekend is a great thing.  It’s great to be able to visit the market any day of the week and pick up meat, fruit and more (though I wish they were open later at least one day of the week).  Beyond this, market management has done a great job in recent years in bringing in a variety of vendors on Saturday to sell unique foods and wares.

While its easy to forget what we have in our own backyards, I say, raise a samosa to the Saint John City Market.

Agreed. Saint John Market is pretty good and can be used every day. Interestingly I was in Portland Me recently and their city market had closed after a grocery store opened down the street.
