37 Gondola Point Road – A heritage property removed

The Telegraph Journal has covered the saga of the Val Dexter estate’s battle with the Town of Rothesay over the “heritage” property at 37 Gondola Point Road.

The property, which was contaminated with oil, and falling apart due to water damage, was torn down this weekend so the owners could comply with an environmental cleanup order from the Province.  Though they tried their best, even sending in a police officer, the Town of Rothesay was unable to add any more delay to the estate’s efforts to clean up the site and move on.

Oi. I like heritage buildings but an always slightly amused by how up in arms people get over them. Not everything should (or can) be preserved.
