Prefab homes
There is an interesting article on the Freakonomics blog discusses the market for architecturally designed prefabricated homes. The article talks of a recent surge in popularity, but one expert expects the US housing crisis to hurt the industry because success requires mass production - and mass demand isn't likely under current economic conditions.
An interesting "green" factor is that prefabricated homes are supposed to produce less construction waste than traditional site built homes.
