Arts and Culture Park - Wifi connectivity

While waiting for a friend who works in Rothesay to finish her shift today I decided to check out Greater Saint John's only outdoor wifi Freespot. in the Quispamsis Arts and Culture Park. Discovering that the park has a live webcam (screen capture below) made the trip more fun, as nerdy outings go.
I think that King Square and Queen Square in the uptown of Saint John and possibly places like Martello Tower in the side of the city should similarly have wifi freespots. By putting freespots in these areas, we are inviting the community to come and enjoy these public gathering spots, even when they aren't there to use the sites in more traditional ways.
Putting wifi spots in King and Queen Squares may be challenging; where would the Internet transmitters be put? For King Square one wouldn't expect the city to have Internet cables run under the park, but perhaps a wifi router could be set up in the neighbouring UNBSJ Grand Hall. For Queen Square perhaps the former Saint John Energy building could be a good staging area for a wifi transmission.

Regardless of where these wifi spots may be put, when the internet is outside, users will have to be cautious of rain, which I am now starting to experience.

For the interest of keeping my computer alive so that I can post again, I'm signing off.
