Stone wall

I drove by the Rothesay Commons the other day and observed that the suburban town had a lot of stones piled on a paved surface. This reminded me of an article I read that informed readers that the Town of Rothesay's heritage committee decided the style of the stone bridges for the park were not designed in the way a historic bridge would have been in that area. As a brief aside I will point out the asphalt basketball court on the commons lacks a certain historic flair.

Back to the main point, this illustrates that it is not just the citizens of Saint John proper that have to put up with unreasonable heritage junkies. Some of the surrounding towns also seem to embrace the ideals of historic inefficiency in design.

I have more hope for our other neighbour, Quispamsis and echo comments from a recent newspaper editorial that exclaims that Quispamsis in a more progressive place economically and socially when it comes to development than Rothesay.
