North end development

Council does get it right sometimes. An article entitled This home is where the hearts will be in the City section of the October 28th Telegraph Journal credits Saint John city council with helping a development of 16 low income apartment units being put up by Housing Alternatives and Rehabitat Inc. in the old Norht End (on the corner of Adelaide and Victoria streets).

Councilor Peter McGuire is quotes as saying: "We have a thousand people who need affordable housing in Saint John. They say eat an elephant a thousand bites at a time. This is a good bite."

This guy's name comes up a lot in a lot of positive ways. I agree with Mr. McGuire and hope he is given a mandate to continue working for the city in 2008.

Hopefully this project works to spur private developers in the North End to continue improving the housing stock in the area, with citizens of all income levels in mind.
