Leinster Court

I went out last night to take some dusk/night photos in uptown Saint John. I parked on King Street East and started by walking up to Saint John John Non-Profit Housing's building site for the 51 unit Leinster Court. I took some pictures through the safety fence.

I am please the project is going ahead as some neighbours oppose it because of its size and not being historic (how one builds a historic building today is beyond me). I look forward to seeing the finished project.

It is positive for the city to have new construction in the downtown core. This mixed income housing development will be good for the community. It could be good if the project adds more competition among landlords and forces them to upgrade their hosuing stock to continue demanding the same rent.

I also noticed a townhouse development (3 or 4 units) being built on a small lot a few blocks away. It's encouraging to see builders choose uptown for their projects.
