What’s an owner to do? Tearing down abandoned buildings

CHSJ reported earlier this week about  uptown property owner Paul Daeres’s frustrations with the city.  They linked to Mr. Daeres’s letter to Common Council (starting on Page 9).

In his letter Daeres talked about how Union Street is populated by bars and second hand shops. He also talks about creating less expensive parking to facilitate people working and doing business uptown.

While his ideas aren’t in line with some folks ideal vision of uptown, and he seems to ignore the recent improvements in other parts of the city center, Daeres is a long time resident and property owner in the south end and his letter is worth a read.
