Churchill Boulevard development

In 2008 public owned housing along Churchill Boulevard was torn down.  The housing was deemed to be unsuitable.  The public expected something better to take its place.

In 2014 the YMCA broke ground and is filling the lot that was once home to many Saint Johners.

Now across the street excavation has started. In a March 28, 2014 article on the CBC senior’s housing was mentioned as a potential use of land in the area.

I imagine there will be a formal sod turning soon if the housing has government backing.

Here is the hole they’ve dug so far:
