Transit cuts unacceptable
The Saint John municipal budgets are generally bigger than politicians who set the tax rate would like. Cutting costs can be a straight forward way of bringing tax rates lower (or in SJ, keeping them stable).
According to the CBC high Saint John Transit expenditures are inspiring the deputy mayor to contemplate cutting bus service.
While I respect the need to keep budgets balanced, I have to strongly disagree with cutting transit service. Transit is important to a healthy economy, and empowers citizens who don’t have cars by allowing them greater opportunity to work and enjoy cultural amenities around the city.
Cutting bus service would be a disservice to Saint Johners.
