Public transit and economic recovery

I came across an interesting article on TreeHugger that explores how public transit has helped with economic recovery in some cities, where job hunters are able to get around without private vehicles.

A line from the article:

“Lack of access to public transportation is a major barrier keeping out-of-work people, especially those in lower-income groups, from finding jobs, according to a new report by the Brookings Institution's Metropolitan Policy Program.”
