Community Gardens

Another positive TJ article today covers community gardens in the “priority neighbourhoods.”

Wendy MacDermott of Vibrant Communities discusses the community building value of the gardens saying:

“The more communal act that happens, the more residents feel a sense of ownership and belonging to their community.”

While I haven’t participated in any of these community gardens I have been helping a friend with his vegetable patch and have really enjoyed working the soil.  Hopefully lots of folks are able to get back to the earth and enjoy these projects.
