Road funding over transit growth

The Telegraph Journal reported this morning that some funds that were being borrowed to increase transit capacity will now be put into roads at the request of city council.

This reminded me of an article I read a while back that indicates that road problems drive (pun intended) people toward transit – so in some cases, funneling money to roads actually makes them busier.

If low bus ridership is the reason you don’t fund buses but roads instead, it seems that the roads may become busier.
