Overcoming Poverty Together

The province has released a poverty reduction plan entitled Overcoming Poverty Together: The New Brunswick Economic and Social Inclusion Plan.  The plan includes ideas around improving access to literacy and education programs and of interest to me:

“Develop a comprehensive housing strategy that enables mixed income neighbourhoods, affordability, supported housing options and co-op housing.”

Federal/Provincial housing programs in place right now create an incentive to create non-mixed income neighbourhoods – so it will be interesting to see how this new plan could change housing policy.
