Street Meat

A few years back the City of Saint John increased the fees charged to food cart operators.  This year I’ve noticed several operators serving up hotdogs at lunch and late at night.

Surely the fees in Saint John are more reasonable than in New York City where a vendor was asked for $54,000 per month for rent.  If you estimated that he the vendor sold $5 worth of product to each customer, and that outside of rent there was a 75% profit the vendor would need to serve around 500 customers a day.

That’s a lot of street food.

Here’s a link to the vendor’s story.
