New “unsightly premises” bylaw in Rothesay
Citing changes in provincial legislation the town of Rothesay has a new bylaw that will allow Town staff to go after owners and tenants if buildings and land are considered eyesores.
According to the Telegraph Journal “The bylaw says no homeowners can have property littered with items, including ashes, junk, a derelict vehicle or a dilapidated building for an extended amount of time.”
Including tenants in the bylaw may make for an interesting game of pass-the-buck whereas landlords can now blame tenants if things are amiss on a property.
