Gridlock
I just watched an interesting documentary on CTV (fun Saturday night!) about Gridlock. I couldn’t find a website for the show, but some of the topics discussed were neat.
Some of they ways gridlock is being battled around the world’s largest cities include paying people to avoid busy bottlenecks, charging folks to drive in congested areas (though this is proving less than a full blown success in London), and by using cell phone GPS to track traffic and send out warnings.
The biggest advice for how to avoid creating gridlock was to avoid driving, but beyond this, it was suggested the less distracted drivers are, the more likely they are to keep traffic flowing efficiently.

It was a differnt show than this. This one too may be interesting for traffic engineering fans.
