East Side Reservoir’s grassroots improvements
When I was a kid growing up in east Saint John I spent a number of sunny summer days biking around the access roads and trails that circled “the rez.” A few years back I helped pick up trash around there as part of a youth volunteerism week (a few years may be seven, now that I stop and think).
I guess I haven’t noticed in recent years all the activity around this area. Apparently, according to the Telegraph Journal, a group of citizens have voluntarily taken up the cause to clean the area of the mounds of garbage and old cars around the water.
The group, who is online at http://www.saintjohnrez.ca/ has big plans for the area which could see it transformed into a very nice east side park.

Until the city can find a way to police the many, many dog owners who leave their dog's feces, I will not be setting foot at the beach at the "Rez" again.
I have no idea where this is. Sadly, the website seems to operate on the assumption that everyone knows the location.
It took me a minute to think where it actually is - when I was a kid I hardly needed street names to get there, just a bike and time to kill.
The parking area for the rez is on Loch Lomond Road about 2 km past Hickey Road (going east).
