Saint John city manager resigns

The Saint John city manager has resigned – contingent on the city providing him the supplemental pension plan agreed to in 2002.

No doubt there will be some opposition to providing this pension top-up, but I have to agree with the words included in the city’s press release (whether or not they were sincere):

“As often in the case in the sports world, reaching the next level requires transformational change -- the City itself is on the cusp of transformational change. In those situations, all parties come to a mutual understanding, settle on contractual commitments, wish each other the best and move on.”

It’s time for a visionary, growth-encouraging, democracy-respecting city manager in Saint John.

Hi there, I found your blog several days ago when I tried to find something about the "Peel Plaza". I love your blog, and I can feel your passion to the city from your words. Although I can not completely understand the context sometime,I will try to follow your insight and the city events. Looking forward to seeing more updates.

There is very little context. ~90% of the blog is just photos and updates on projects. ~10% is the ranting of a madman; sometimes I get excited about projects and developments, sometimes I get skeptical.

I like living here and I like seeing the changes that are taking place. But I'm an arm chair city manager and urban planner and often think I could "do it better."
