Peel Plaza: Going Up
It appears that the Peel Plaza project won't be stopped. Those with the city's money in hand are willing to spend tens of millions to build monuments in the forms of a police station and parking structure.
Some good news coming out of the project is the potential for residential development to be added. There is talk of adding several storeys to the parking structure that would house high end apartments.
Developments that will add to the uptown population will generally be good for the community; more population helps justify adding services to the area. More people will also help create a vibrant community.
City Building Inspector Bill Edwards (who is in charge of the project) indicated that the area's zoning would allow for up to 22 storeys of development, with several TJ commenter's indicating that they want to see this building go high into the sky.
