Germain Street condos
A block building (circa 1925 according to the listing agent) at 247 Germain Street. The property is listed with Bob McVicar and the units are around $200,000.
I find it interesting that many buildings in the city are being converted to condos. This form of ownership may draw more yuppie-type people into the city centre. I might stop in to the open house for these units – I’m getting ready to own and want to stay in the uptown area if possible.

I've been inside and they are beautiful, too bad I have to move for work or I'd by one for sure. More people need to return to the uptown, and ownership in the long run is better than renting. I've rented uptown for years and now I'm leaving and I have nothing 'saved' or equity from ten plus years of renting.
Here is the developer's site http://www.cormierestateholdings.com
Interest in this project has been very strong, both from buyers and other owners of buildings with the potential for this type of conversion. WE have recently taken price reductions and there is NO HST on the purchase. Prices now from $175,900-$205,900. With mortgage payment, property taxes and condo fees in, you can own one of these units for approx. $1500/month. Not much different than the cost of rent.
