Empire Room
A restaurant called the Empire Room is opening on Princess Street. According to the TJ the self-trained chef will be serving up fine dining made with organic and local ingredients. This addition to the food scene will be located beside Hayward and Warwick's on Princess Street.In other restaurant news, I've heard hammers tapping away inside the old Tapps on King Street. I haven't heard what is taking shape.
A final piece of foody news, a new blogger called Consumer Saint John, is reviewing restaurants and businesses around the city.

Hey - I think the Tapps space is going to be a NY style deli... there was an article in the Telegraph a couple months ago.
this restaurant owner already owes my thousands of dollars and I am currently taking her to court. I know of about 5 other suppliers who did work for her and she did not pay....dont expect it to be open too soon...after we finish with her in court we will be owning it
Oh wait - I was thinking of the Spago's space. I don't know what's going in Tapps.
Tapps is going to be a tattoo & piercing place, if you walk by you can see all the neon signs in the windows (yup, here in Saint John we display our tackiest offerings right on the main downtown street).
