BBQ for us apartment dwellers

This idea may not be realistic – but I have full editorial control of this blog, so here goes.  I think it would be great is some of the public parks about (such as Queen Square) were to have barbeques similar to those at Irving Nature Park or Rockwood Park.  I know vandalism and other misuse might be problems – but having diverse services in uptown public spaces would make living in uptown apartments, condos or other homes with little outdoor space more attractive.

For now, I visit my parents from time to time to use their grill and do my best with my stove-top cooking techniques.  Perhaps one day, I might be able to walk in my neighbourhood with a cooler to make a nice outdoor cooked meal.

You can take a small Weber bbq to the park now, couldn't you?

Maybe, but I like the idea of it being a community resource.

Perhaps some sort of BBQ could be worked out at a spot like tin can beach, should that ever be turned into usuable space. I can't really see it in Queens Square.

I agree... I suppose it would have its issues & complications, but it would make community events in the park easier. Last year Fusion had its first big Yard Sale & BBQ for the Dragon Boat Fest... and getting a BBQ to the park for it was a bit complicated.

I think putting something like this at Tin Can beach is a good idea. I like the idea of having bbqs or other places for neighbours and friends to congregate in public places.
