Peel Plaza: What businesses might benefit from a courthouse and cop shop

Critics say that locating a courthouse and police officer in the city centre is a waste of a prime location. Critics have suggested that not many businesses will cluster around this sort of development.

I was watching an episode of Cold Case Files this evening that made me question this criticism. The narrator mentioned that a jewelery and fur store was located next to a courthouse in Ontario.

I wonder if there are businesses that would want to locate near the "added security" of a police station and courthouse. Might stores with high end merchandise that could be appealing to would be robbers be attracted to this sort of area? I wonder if jewellers might want to be in this sort of area. Also, I wonder if seniors might want homes near this development. Maybe a high end seniors complex might see this as a beneficial location.
