Buses
As a quick follow up to my last post on transit's environmental efficiency: the article at reportonbusiness.com compares the efficiency per passenger mile. This metric may be flawed in measuring environmental efficiency if the existence of transit discourages passenger miles. Basically, if someone who chooses not to have a car because transit is available may walk more and use less passenger miles regardless of how efficient either buses or cars are.
