Progress

I commend Saint John City Council on deciding to let Leinster Court proceed by approving Saint John Non-Profit Housing's rezoning application.

I am pleased that a number of councilors were able to decide to support this project zoning at this time.

Lessons have definitely been learned from this; I am sure more developers in Saint John will engage neighbours early on in development consultations now that they have seen this process unfold.

The neighbours have been diligent in ensuring that their rights were being considering, while many still publicly supported low income housing. It will be good if these neighbours stay engaged in their community. Similarly, it is good when any citizens become and remain engaged.

One councilor in particular who appears to have given this rezoning process thoughtful consideration is Mr. Court - his comments proved helpful in reminding many in the room of the rights of all citizens involved. He also participated in good conversation regarding how some conditions should help the neighbours of the project.
